Finding the right therapist can be challenging.
Hi, I’m Tara.
Tara Pettit DeLoach
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist; Certified Clinical Trauma Professional
I’m originally from the foothills of North Carolina. I headed to the beach for my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina -Wilmington in 2005. Then it was into the high country for my Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Appalachian State University in 2008.
I’ve worked in a variety of settings throughout my career. I started in community mental health in 2007, where I worked in crisis response and court-ordered substance abuse counseling. My love of the low country encouraged me to take a leap of faith and move to Charleston, SC, where I worked in inpatient psychiatric care. In 2011, I was offered the opportunity to help build, from the ground up, the Augusta Vet Center. I spent 10 years working for the Vet Center program and the Department of Veterans Affairs, initially as a therapist, and then as a program director.
I transitioned into private practice in 2021 with the goal of offering clients an opportunity at deep healing not available to them in traditional treatment settings.
I live in the Augusta area with my husband and our 2 dogs and 4 cats.
A little about me:
I was a runner for many years, then figured out I didn’t like it (it only took 2 marathons…). Now I cycle and weight train.
You’ll hear the phrase “can we be curious about that?” a lot. My clients love to tease me about it…there’s been talk of t-shirts.
I love to teach. My clients probably learn more than they want to know about brain functioning.
